The Neurodivergent Writers Club is an intimate writing community for neurodivergent humans, made up of six group gatherings and two 1:1 peer feedback opportunities.
Over the course of 9 weeks, we’ll tend & nurture our writing practices while in a space of kinship and belonging. This intersectional approach will help us get curious about the role creativity plays in our sense of self—and vice versa—as we benefit from the collective wisdom we’ll each bring to the club.
TOGETHER WE WILL:
Write, think, reflect, and practice articulating what matters to us creatively
Share our writerly experiences, challenges, and insights
Strengthen our creative identities through mutual witnessing
Sessions are 90 minutes and held at 4pm Pacific on Tuesday evenings, with the exception of Week Two, which will be held on Wednesday, September 25th.
Weeks will alternate between gently guided parallel writing sessions and gently facilitated group conversation. There will be two semester “breaks,” which coincide with two opportunities to trade writing with a colleague and receive strengths-based feedback and engagement.
Cost is $185, with full sliding scale options ($0 to $184) available to every participant. (To sign-up through a sliding scale, email me at sarah.teresa.cook (at) gmail (dot) com.) Semester will be capped at 10 participants.
WHAT OUR WEEKS WILL LOOK LIKE:
Week one, Sept. 17th: “Showing up & calling in” (getting to know each other / setting some gentle intentions for the next 6 weeks / what is “strengths-based” reading?)
Week two, Sept. 25th: Parallel writing session (NOTE: Session held on Wednesday this week.)
Week three, Oct. 1st: “What’s coming up” (group reflection, conversation, & sharing)
Two-week break. First opportunity for partnered reading & feedback
Week four, Oct. 22nd: Parallel writing session
Week five, Oct. 29th: “What’s coming up” (group reflection, conversation, & sharing)
One-week break. Second opportunity for partnered reading & feedback
Week six, Nov. 12th: Reflections & looking forward (wrapping up the 6-weeks through guided writing & celebration)
WHO THE NDW CLUB IS FOR:
You are a neurodivergent human who desires a small and inclusive creative community
You have (or would like to have) a more consistent writing practice, and you have at least some sense of what you’d like to be writing about
You’re seeking gentle accountability alongside supportive prompting / external structure
You want to tend your creativity in a strengths-based and trauma-informed setting
You might dislike socializing, or feel nervous to participate in group spaces, and you’re looking for a community that will understand this and allow you to show up as you are
WHAT THE NDW CLUB IS NOT:
Therapy
A traditional classroom—we won’t be learning about neurodivergence, “rules” of writing, etc.
Formal group coaching
A pop-in space. Because community and consistency are important for this group, I’m asking folks to sign up only if they are fairly confident they’ll be able to attend most sessions.
This club is designed to be a rich complement to therapy, self-study, 1:1 mentorship, and any other healing modalities or learning opportunities you might be engaged in.
